Kansas City Barbecue, known locally as the "Top Gun Bar," as several scenes from the famous movie filmed there, is one of the best BBQ joints in town. They've perfected delicious, scratch-made meals that come paired with homemade, savory sauces and flavor-packed meats. Along with their hotlinks and classic sides, you'll come hungry and leave happy and content.

For a glitzy night on the town, try Born and Raised Steakhouse. With its opulent, upscale atmosphere, craft cocktails, and top-notch menu, it's the perfect place to indulge yourself.

Pastry chef Karen Krasne created the must-visit San Diego bakery, Extraordinary Desserts. As seen on the Food Network, Extraordinary Desserts is famous for its spectacular cakes and pastries. There are two locations due to its popularity, one in Banker's Hill and one in Little Italy.

Juniper and Ivy is an elegant, fine-dining location known for serving elevated comfort food. The chef-driven menu utilizes the freshest ingredients and changes seasonally.

Things to Do

Located in the beautiful Balboa Park is the famed San Diego Zoo, a pioneer in cageless exhibits that recreate animals' natural habitat. It is frequently hailed as one of the best zoos in the country. Today it hosts more than 650 species and over 3,500 animals.

Sea World is a massive aquatic zoo, oceanarium, outdoor aquarium, and marine mammal habitat.  Along with multiple animal exhibits, including otters and orcas, Sea World also has many rides, attractions, and shows for visitors to enjoy.

San Diego is also home to one of the world's best ballparks at PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres. It first opened in 2004 and has maintained its sterling reputation ever since. The ballpark features an array of venue options and state-of-the-art amenities.

The Annual Taste of Gaslamp event is a paradise for foodies. Every year, tickets sell out. Lucky attendees get to embark on an extensive, self-guided culinary tour through the Gaslamp Quarter's best restaurants and bars. The general admission tickets include visits to 27  restaurants and the Karl Strauss beer garden. In comparison, VIP tickets grant access to eight additional upscale restaurants and an afterparty at the Horton Grand Hotel.

Schools

Independent school districts operate San Diego public schools. Most public schools are served by the San Diego Unified School District, the second-largest in California. The San Diego Union High School District serves students from five elementary school districts in North County.

There are also numerous notable universities and colleges in the city, such as the University of San DiegoUniversity of California San Diego, and San Diego State University.
